The Issue

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayo Clinic’s internal strategic plan gained limited visibility. Team members were disconnected from leadership and were working in silos. When asked what the company’s 2030 strategy was, most employees were not able to articulate any part of the plan. The Chief Executive Officer and communications team approached Ethos to help with a new strategy for communicating the 2030 vision to the entire enterprise.

The Solution

Ethos assisted Mayo Clinic with communicating their strategic plan relaunch to re-engage with their 68,000+ employees. This plan needed to create excitement over Mayo Clinic’s innovative approach to delivering tailored, consumer-friendly care and creating industry-leading possibilities. For the 2030 strategy to be successful, each employee needed to see him/her/their self as an integral player in Mayo Clinic’s transformation, innovation and action.

The Outcome

Ethos delivered a refreshed communications strategy with a key messaging framework, pillars and tone of voice to be used consistently throughout the organization. Tactics recommendations were made such as ambassador and recognition programs, a podcast series, gamification and more. Ethos assisted in content development for the intranet, training materials and success stories. The new strategy was launched with an impactful Anthem video.
